Gongi is a casual game predominantly played among children of age from five to eight.
The game tests the participant's dexterity and reaction speed--the players take turns tossing nail-sized pebbles and catching a certain number during their fall.
In the past, children would pick suitable sized pebbles from the ground and play with them. Nowadays, local toy stores or gameshops sell artificially weighted plastic pebbles especially made for the game.
Even though many other games for children have been developed, Gongi, by far, remains as one of the most popular pastime activities in Korea.
